Dominic Sinson

College Street Dental & Implant Clinic are very pleased to welcome Dominic Sinson to our experienced team. Dominic qualified with honours from Cardiff University in 2010 and has spent the last eight years gaining experience and an excellent reputation.

Dominic has a keen interest in Periodontics and in 2014 he began training as a specialist in Periodontics. Dominic is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for Periodontics and is also a member of the British Society of Periodontology.

Dominic also has an interest in Dental Implants and Oral Surgery.

André Philip Pettemerides (Philip) graduated from The University of Sheffield in 1976. He has since gained enormous experience in the fields of restorative, aesthetic and implant dentistry. In particular he is recognised for his work on immediate loading of implants, aesthetic cases, the use of computer guided placement, Nobel Guide and the All on 4 Concept.

He has achieved the Certificate, the Advanced Certificate and the Diploma in Implant dentistry with distinction from The Eastman Dental Institute at the University of London. He has continued his postgraduate education in France, Malta, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland and the USA.

Philip is an Executive Committee member of The British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, an affiliate member of The European Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, a member of the Association of Dental Implantologists and in addition to his clinical work Philip has taken a keen academic interest and has had several articles published in scientific journals including the British and European Journals of Orthodontics.

Philip currently runs implant courses at Edgar Buildings Dental Care and is a senior lecturer at the Portman Academy. He has lectured on dental implants at home and in Sweden and has lectured for Nobel Biocare including the World Conference 2007 in Las Vegas and as the lead presenter for The Nobel Biocare Procera Roadshow.

Philip has an holistic approach to dentistry, always with the patient's best interest at heart. He attends regular postgraduate conferences to keep abreast of the latest innovations in all aspects of dentistry and when possible to introduce them to Edgar Buildings Dental Care.

Philip has also taken on an additional new role as Regional Lead Clinician for Portman Dental Care in Wales and the South West of England.

Annie Bedford

Originally from Bournemouth, Annie moved to the area to study Dentistry at the University of Bristol, and has lived and worked in Somerset since graduating in 2006. She joined College Street Dental in June 2020. Annie has a wealth of experience as a general dental practitioner, and a passion for providing the highest quality care. She enjoys treating patients of every age and need, and she is particularly skilled at looking after very anxious patients. Beyond general dentistry, Annie has a strong interest in aesthetic dentistry, but with a minimally destructive approach. As an extension of this interest she trained to become an Invisalign provider in 2018, so that she could provide virtually invisible short-term orthodontic treatment that is minimally intrusive for her patients. She is dedicated to her ongoing personal training and development in this field.

Annie lives on the Mendip Hills with her Husband and young daughters. She has lots of creative interests, from cooking and baking, to sewing, knitting and interior design, although much of her time is taken up with entertaining her daughters these days. Outside of the home, when she can find the time, Annie loves to swim, and to hop on her kayak with her husband and get out for a paddle on the coast.

Hannah graduated from The University of Manchester in 2008 and in 2012 sat her MJDF exams to become a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Hannah’s favourite aspect of dentistry is getting to know her patients and understanding their individual needs. She loves to restore peoples smiles and watch their confidence grow. Hannah prides herself on being accessible to her patients and believes there is never a stupid question and never rushes appointments. Outside the practice, Hannah has a young family who keep her very busy. Hannah enjoys practising yoga & reading.

Kasia qualified from University of Bristol in 2016. Kasia is currently studying for her master’s degree in endodontics at University of Chester. Kasia enjoys all aspects of dentistry, with particular interest in root canal therapy and managing anxious patients. She used to work in practices in Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare. In her spare time, Kasia enjoys running, sewing and a good book.

Suzy

Suzy Threadgold

During Suzy’s training, she was praised on her communication skills and treatment of anxious and phobic patients, she was presented with the British Society of Dental Hygiene & Therapy Student award. She has continued with her commitment to helping anxious patients and greatly enjoys this aspect of her work. To ensure excellent oral health Suzy works with all her patients to help provide comfortable treatment and appropriate education.

Outside of Suzy’s clinical role she has a teaching role, she goes into care home for the elderly and vulnerable adults, helping to educate caregivers in the importance of oral health maintenance of their clients.

Prior to becoming a Dental Hygienist Suzy worked at the Bristol Dental Hospital preforming cancer research of the head & neck, she obtained a MSc during this period.

Outside of work Suzy is the membership sectary of the British Llama Society and owns 6 llamas herself. If it isn’t llama power then she can be found with horse power – following different motorsports from MotoGP to Le Mans 24 hour and the Bathurst 12-hour race.

Zoe Hammerton-Hirlihy

Practice Manager

Zoe has worked as Practice Manager at College Street since 2018, but has worked for the group since 2013, managing two other sites in Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Zoe has a wealth of experience in dentistry, having worked in the industry for over 20 years.

Zoe was named Portman Practice Manager of the year in 2019 and was also a finalist at the national Dentistry Awards 2019. Zoe is passionate about delivering excellent patient care and particularly enjoys mentoring and developing her team in order to enhance the patient journey.

Zoe has a young family and spends the majority of her spare time caring for them, alongside her black lab puppy.

Jo

Jo Bissett

Jo has been nursing since the age of 18, getting into dental nursing through her sister, who is also a dental nurse. Jo worked in Weston for six years before moving to College Street Dental & Implant Clinic, and has been here since December 2015. Jo has completed further courses as a dental nurse, including the ability to take impressions on patients, apply fluoride and to complete plaque scoring. Jo has also recently completed the Oral Health Education course. In her own time Jo enjoys spending time with her family & young baby boy.

Carol started working as a Dental Nurse when she was 16 and joined the team at College Street in 1992. Carol works part time but provides cover to the nursing team as well as assisting with implants which she really enjoys.

Carol says she loves working at College Street and hopes to continue to do so for many years to come. In her spare time she enjoys cryptic crosswords and painting, as well travels with her husband on his motorbike around Europe.

Charlotte joined College Street in May 2022. She has worked as a dental nurse for 3 years and loves to support her patients as well as get stuck into what the job entails.

Outside of work Charlotte has a husband, daughter & dog who she loves to spend time with, as well as enjoying singing, dancing and retail therapy.

I have worked as a trainee dental nurse for two years, during my time I have worked at two dental practices, I have learnt how to interact with people on a professional level and now confident in the customer facing part of my role.

In my spare time I like to travel, with my favourite place being America. I am looking forward to many more years of exploring, I also like retail therapy with friends and family.

I am looking forward to my role within Portman as a dental nurse.

Moira trained as a medical nurse in 1980 and after 20 years decided to change her career path and become a dental nurse in 2001. She qualified at BDH and has worked in and around the Weston area gaining valuable experience. Moira likes to spend time with her family & enjoys line dancing in her spare time.

Laurel joined the practice in July 2021 as a trainee dental nurse, coming from working as a nursery teacher which she started after leaving college. Laurel is enjoying working at the practice and learning new skills and enjoys assisting the dentist chair side.

Cep has lived in Burnham for nearly 9 years, and previous to working here was a kitchen assistant at a care home. She decided to change careers into dentistry as she likes to learn new things and care for people. In her spare time Cep enjoys dancing, singing and spending time with her family.

Jeanette has been a receptionist at College Street Dental since June 2007, before that I spent 25 years working as a customer service adviser.

I am married with two grown up children and one dog. My hobbies include reading, walking the dog and spending time with family and friends.

Karen

Receptionist

Karen has been a member of the team for 10 years and is a familiar face on reception. She has worked in the care profession for many years, both as a provider of direct care and within the administrative side. Karen enjoys working within a team of professionals who encourage and support her and enjoys learning new skills to help enhance her skills within her roll. Karen enjoys face to face and telephone contact with clients and has gained professional relationships with many of our patients. Karen enjoys socialising with her family, has a keen interest in travel and in her past time enjoyed dancing and swimming.

Kerry started working at College Street in the autumn of 2021. Kerry has joined us as part of our reception team and you will find Kerry in practice on a Monday or Tuesday. Kerry has a wealth of knowledge in customer facing roles and says that she is enjoying working in the practice and meeting new people. In her spare time, Kerry spends time with her 2 small children and enjoys day trips and visiting new places.

Receptionist

Joanne joined College Street Dental Surgery in November 2021 as one of our newest receptionist’s.

Joanne moved to Burnham-on-Sea in 2015 and is enjoying life in the seaside resort.

She has one granddaughter who she loves spending time with and has the tiniest of dog of called Roxie, a cross between a shih tzu and miniature poodle who she adores spending time with and taking for walks.
