DPDS BDS Sheffield 1979

Originally from the Midlands, Colin Taylor studied dentistry at Sheffield University, qualifying in 1979 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree. After a period of time working around various practices in Birmingham, he became a partner in College Street Dental in 1983, growing the practice from 3 to 4 dentists in 1989. Following a period of part time study he was awarded the post graduate diploma in dental studies in 1996 from Bristol University.
Married to Jill, with 2 grown up sons and a daughter, Colin has been happily settled here in Somerset since 1983. Being well versed in the skills necessary to be a general dental practitioner, he particularly enjoys treating the very young and the very old, with all the problems particular to those age groups. In his spare time, he skis once a year, plays golf as much as he can get away with, and the rest of his time is spent gardening or on his half allotment. He enjoys a good chat and likes to get to know his patients.
DPDS BDS Witwatersrand 1984

George Slabbert qualified at the University of Witwatersrand in 1984. Following qualification and has worked in general practice until he joined College Street Dental in 1988 as a partner. He completed his postgraduate DPDs at Bristol University in 1997. While he was South West coordinator for the Anaphylaxis Campaign, with his interest in allergies, he obtained his Part 1 in the Mechanisms and Management of Allergic Disease at Southampton University in 2001.
Outside interests are long distance road cycling, dinghy sailing and trying to complete walking the South West coastal path. He is also involved with helping his wife look after a number of pet sheep and lambs. George has an interest in all aspects of general dentistry with emphasis on crown and bridgework. Also interested in providing quality dentures. He attends numerous postgraduate courses to keep up to date with the latest techniques in dentistry.

Tinashe graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2013 and is dedicated to providing high quality general dental care. After spending some time working in Sheffield and Newcastle he later moved to Australia to undertake work as a Private dentist in 2015.
Tinashe has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, including facial aesthetics. He is committed to furthering his knowledge and is currently undertaking postgraduate Restorative and short-term Orthodontics training. Outside of work Tinashe is an avid writer of children’s books and enjoys keeping fit

Gregory Wootton graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2005. Gregory worked in a well-established mixed family practice in London until 2016 where he gained extensive experience focusing on all aspects of restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
Gregory is passionate about improving people’s smiles and restoring their ability to bite and chew properly using the latest developments in restorative and implant dentistry and smile design. He is knowledgeable about the latest dental techniques and developments and regularly attends courses to broaden his professional knowledge.
Gregory has a proactive approach to preventative dentistry and is dedicated to providing you with a personal and patient-centred service of the highest standard. He believes that every person should be treated as an individual and considers that patient involvement and choice is a vital part of the service. As such he will work with you towards optimising your oral health and promoting awareness of your treatment options so that you can make the right choice.

BDS Bristol 2010

Ellie is originally from Kent and studied dentistry at University of Bristol qualifying in 2010 with a BDS with merit in all areas. She was awarded Ivoclar Vivadent award for technical excellence in dentistry. After a period of of time working in the Southwest, she relocated to Kent where she grew up. After four years in private practice in Kent, Ellie has chosen to relocate to Bristol where she lives with her husband and two cats Winston the Ragdoll and Mr Gus the Maine Coon.
Ellie has recently secured a teaching role also at the Bristol Dental Hospital on the restorative dental department which she is excited to commence early 2018. Ellie is currently exploring further training in Endodontics and hopes to commence further training in the next couple of years. Ellie enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and is committed to providing quality care with a friendly and informative approach.
In her spare time Ellie enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.

Emma after qualifying in 1993 as a dental nurse and has spent many years adding to her professional qualifications. She has worked in sedation and with people who have special needs and paediatric patients at Weston General Hospital. She then retrained as a Dental Hygienist at Bristol Dental Hospital. She works hard to promote oral health prevention and enjoy all aspects of the job, working in several practices in and around the Bristol area.
Outside of works she is an active member of the Burnham and Highbridge Brass Band as first tenor horn which takes up a lot of spare time. She is married with 2 children and enjoys camping, swimming and cycling.

Margarita qualified as a Dental Hygienist with distinction from Regency Dental Hygiene Academy in Toronto, ON, Canada. She has published a research based article in The Canadian Journal of Dental Hygiene in 2012. As a conscientious and highly motivated Dental Hygienist, Margarita takes pride in using her professional training and expertise to help her patients improve and retain their long-term dental and oral health.
Margarita enjoys photography and film-making, spending time with her family, country walks and genealogy.

I have been nursing since I was 18, getting into dental nursing through my sister, who is also a dental nurse. I worked in Weston for 6 years before moving to College Street, and have been here since December 2015. I have completed further courses as a dental nurse, including the ability to take impressions on patients, apply fluoride and to complete plaque scoring.
In my own time, being a avid Newcastle United supporter, I like to travel and attend football matches on the weekends and I also like to go to the gym, with my favourite class to attend being Boxercise.
I plan to complete further educational courses in Oral Hygiene and I also have a keen interest in assisting in Orthodontic procedures and Facial Aesthetics.
Chelsea has been working at College St for a year and a half, after being a patient here for 25 years. Chelsea has 6 years experience in Reception/Administration roles. She lives locally with her husband, son and dog.
Chelsea is currently studying an English Literature and Language Honours Degree so a lot of her spare time is taken up studying. If she is not studying she enjoys reading, cooking and going on long walks with her family.
Karen says it’s a pleasure to work with the team at College Street Dental & Implant Clinic for 10 years. I have been coming to this practice since 1983 as a patient and my husband, sons and grandchildren are now registered here too.
I've had a varied working career and gained qualifications in management of direct care, administration and customer service. I enjoy spending quality time with my family, swimming and travel.
Hannah joined the Portman family June 2016 as a trainee and will be qualified end of Feb 2018. She has a keen interest in Implant nursing and assist our implantologist who visits once a month. Outside of work she is a busy mum of 2. Hannah has a keen interest in health and fitness, and is a long standing member of a running club.volunteer and am part of the befriending service to help combat loneliness for the elderly
Jeanette has been a receptionist at College Street Dental since June 2007, before that I spent 25 years working as a customer service adviser.
I am married with two grown up children and one dog. My hobbies include reading, walking the dog and spending time with family and friends.

Kate has been nursing at College Street for 3 years, before this she worked as a beauty therapist.

Janet has been nursing at College Street for over 22 years and is now seeing the third generation of some families. She said she likes interacting with the patients, working with such a great team and that she has made some great friendships over time with work colleagues.
Janet has two grown up daughters, and two grandchildren who she loves spending her spare time with as well as attending the theatre and walking her two dogs.

Carol started working as a Dental Nurse when she was 16 and joined the team at College Street in 1992. Carol works part time but provides cover to the nursing team as well as assisting with implants which she really enjoys.
Carol says she loves working at College Street and hopes to continue to do so for many years to come. In her spare time she enjoys cryptic crosswords and painting, as well travels with her husband on his motorbike around Europe.
