Dominic

Dominic Sinson

Dominic qualified from the School of Dentistry at Cardiff University and since then has gained a vast range of clinical experience.

In addition to working in practice he has also worked as a Senior House Officer firstly in Oral Surgery at Heath Hospital Cardiff, then in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Gwent Hospital. He has a Special Interest in Periodontology and is currently a Specialist Registrar in Periodontology and in further training at Guy’s Hospital.

Dominic has been committed to develop as a clinician and has passed challenging post-graduate exams to gain Membership to the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) at Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He likes to be active in the dental community especially amongst specialist trainees as he is a committee member for the Specialist Registrars in Restorative Dentistry Group (SRRDG) and Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC). He is also a member of the British Periodontal Society.

André Philip Pettemerides (Philip) graduated from The University of Sheffield in 1976. He has since gained enormous experience in the fields of restorative, aesthetic and implant dentistry. In particular he is recognised for his work on immediate loading of implants, aesthetic cases, the use of computer guided placement, Nobel Guide and the All on 4 Concept.

He has achieved the Certificate, the Advanced Certificate and the Diploma in Implant dentistry with distinction from The Eastman Dental Institute at the University of London. He has continued his postgraduate education in France, Malta, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland and the USA.

Philip is an Executive Committee member of The British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, an affiliate member of The European Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, a member of the Association of Dental Implantologists and in addition to his clinical work Philip has taken a keen academic interest and has had several articles published in scientific journals including the British and European Journals of Orthodontics.

Hannah Smith

Hannah graduated from The University of Manchester in 2008, and in 2012 sat her MJDF exams to become a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Hannah’s favourite aspect of dentistry is getting to know her patients and understand their individual needs. She loves to restore peoples smiles and watch their confidence grow. On a more technical level, Hannah enjoys providing beautifully crafted, cosmetic, minimally invasive restorations. She is a firm believer that there is nothing better than your own natural teeth and that prevention of oral disease is key. She has been involved with ‘Healthy Gums DO Matter,’ which focuses on providing thorough and easy to follow oral hygiene advice.

Hannah prides herself on being accessible to her patients. There is never a stupid question, and never a rushed appointment. An aim here at the clinic is to provide a calm and happy environment for all our patients.

Outside the practice, Hannah has a young family who keep her very busy. They love the great outdoors and enjoy being in the garden. When there is a calm moment, Hannah enjoys practising yoga and reading.

Katarzyna Ed

Kasia qualified from University of Bristol in 2016. Kasia is currently studying for her master’s degree in endodontics at University of Chester. Kasia enjoys all aspects of dentistry, with particular interest in root canal therapy and managing anxious patients. She used to work in practices in Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare. In her spare time, Kasia enjoys running, sewing and a good book.

Mariana 2

Mariana graduated from the University of Porto (Portugal) in 2010. After working in Lisbon for some time she moved to the UK for a year and has now been living here for more than 10 years.

She wanted to be a dentist since she was a little girl. She first showed a lot of interest in root canal treatments to prolong your teeth’s life, but what she really enjoys doing is restoring her patient’s smiles and function. She completed her Restorative course in 2015.

She likes putting her patients at ease and there are never too many questions, so please make sure to ask everything you need and she will do her best to answer you.

Mariana joined our team in January 2023 when she decided to change green Scotland for sunny Somerset. She loves being in nature and enjoys creating things. From crafts to gardening and everything in between. Don’t forget the baking! When she is not exploring the West Coast, you will find her travelling home to spend time with family and her little niece.

Suzy

Suzy Threadgold

Hygienist & Dental Therapist

During Suzy’s training, she was praised on her communication skills and treatment of anxious and phobic patients, she was presented with the British Society of Dental Hygiene & Therapy Student award. She has continued with her commitment to helping anxious patients and greatly enjoys this aspect of her work. To ensure excellent oral health Suzy works with all her patients to help provide comfortable treatment and appropriate education.

Outside of Suzy’s clinical role she has a teaching role, she goes into care home for the elderly and vulnerable adults, helping to educate caregivers in the importance of oral health maintenance of their clients.

Prior to becoming a Dental Hygienist Suzy worked at the Bristol Dental Hospital preforming cancer research of the head & neck, she obtained a MSc during this period.

Rebecca

Rebecca Hutton

Becky has been working within the field of dentistry since 2009. She started by gaining her diploma in Dental Nursing and worked with the National Examination Board for Dental Nurses. She continued to widen her knowledge and assisted in the placement of dental implants. Becky realised her interest was in the field of prevention of oral diseases and this led her to obtain her degree in oral health sciences from the University of Essex. Becky has been practicing as a dental hygienist since qualifying in 2017. She enjoys keeping up to date with the research and guidance on the management of different types of gum diseases and has a key interest in the links between general health and oral health. Outside of work Becky enjoys gardening, spending time with her little boy and with her rescue dog Ralph, her four guinea pigs and cat.

Zhh Ed

Zoe Hammerton-Hirlihy

Practice Manager

Zoe has worked in dentistry for over 20 years and joined Portman Healthcare in 2013 as dual site manager looking after the Maidenhead and Henley sites. Zoe relocated to Somerset in late 2017 with her family and transferred to College Street in the summer of 2018.

In her spare time, Zoe enjoys spending time with her young family, walking the dogs and exploring the South West coast.

Jo

Jo Bissett

Jo has been dental nursing since 2010, getting into dental nursing through her sister, who is also a dental nurse. Jo worked in Weston for five years before moving to College Street, and has been here since December 2015. Jo has completed further courses as a dental nurse, including the ability to take impressions on patients, fluoride application and to complete plaque scoring. Jo has also completed the Oral Health Education course. Jo enjoys working with our Specialist Periodontist Dom and placing Implants with Philip. In her own time Jo enjoys spending time with her son, Cole, and her family and hunting in charity shops for a bargain and watching the football.

Carol started working as a Dental Nurse when she was 16 and joined the team at College Street in 1992. Carol works part time but provides cover to the nursing team as well as assisting with implants which she really enjoys.

Carol says she loves working at College Street and hopes to continue to do so for many years to come. In her spare time she enjoys cryptic crosswords and painting, as well travels with her husband on his motorbike around Europe.

Charlotte Marcer

Charlotte joined College Street in May 2022. She has worked as a dental nurse for 3 years and loves to support her patients as well as get stuck into what the job entails.

Outside of work Charlotte has a husband, daughter & dog who she loves to spend time with, as well as enjoying singing, dancing and retail therapy.

Rowena

Rowena has been in dentistry since 2018. She enjoys interacting with people and the patient facing aspect of the role.

Rowena works alongside Hannah Smith and occasionally on the front desk.

In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with her family.

Moira Bright Ed

Moira trained as a medical nurse at Southmead Hospital in 1980 and after 20 years decided to change her path and embark in dentistry, in 2001. She gained the National Exam for Dental Nurses at Bristol Dental Hospital and has worked in and around the Weston area gaining valuable experience. Moira joined Portman in January 2021 and is enjoying her time here. As a dental nurse, Moira likes being part of a team and to provide people with professional and quality care, and this is exactly what she finds here and says it is a lovely, friendly place to work. In her spare time, Moira likes to spend time with her family and enjoys line dancing.

Laurel Ed

Laurel joined the practice in July 2021 as a trainee dental nurse, coming from working as a nursery teacher which she started after leaving college. Laurel is enjoying working at the practice and learning new skills and enjoys assisting the dentist chair side. Laurel qualified as a dental nurse in December 2023, and took a few months off after to travel Australia. Since Laurels return, she is now trained as a member of reception as well as being in surgery.

Charlotte

Charlotte joined College Street in May 2022. She has worked as a dental nurse for three years and loves to support her patients as well as get stuck into what the job entails.

Outside of work Charlotte has a husband, two daughters & a dog who she loves to spend time with, as well as enjoying singing, dancing and retail therapy.

Charlotte is on maternity leave as of October 2023 and will return in the Autumn of 2024.

Capepril is originally from the Philippines and came to Burnham on Sea in 2015. Previous to becoming a trainee dental nurse, Capepril studied at Weston college before deciding that dentistry would be her chosen career.

In her spare time Capepril enjoys dancing, singing and travelling with her family.

Sue

Sue Wilson

Sue joined College Street Dental in 2023 following a long career in the community as an oral health educator. Sue qualified in 2003 and worked in community for 20 years all around the South West. Her passion is prevention and has worked in lots of different projects looking after the teeth of young children in Somerset including toothbrushing schemes and fluoride varnish applications. Sue, within a team, won an award for ‘Teeth the Musical’ working with students at Bridgwater College to educate on the importance of looking after teeth. Sue has years of experience working with patients with additional needs and complicated medical history, educating carers and working with dentists and therapists. Outside of dentistry, Sue has a diploma in hypnotherapy and has completed a nail technician course. Sue can be seen Tuesdays to Thursdays working alongside Mariana.

Clancy joined us in 2023 and is brand new to dentistry and loves it already. She is currently a trainee dental nurse. Clancy says she has learnt so much already and is looking forward to learning more! Her passion is travelling and on reflection it must be animals too! She’s been travelling all over the world, from mountain trekking with gorillas in Uganda to volunteering with pandas in China and swimming with wild dolphins in New Zealand! Clancy is ready for a new adventure in dentistry and hopes to carry on delivering a good service to the local community.

Jeanette has been a receptionist at College Street Dental since June 2007, before that she spent 25 years working as a customer service adviser.

Jeanette is married with two grown up children and one dog. Her hobbies include reading, walking the dog and spending time with family and friends.

Karen has been a member of the team for over 10 years and is a familiar face on reception. She has worked in the care profession for many years, both as a provider of direct care and within the administrative side. Karen enjoys working within a team of professionals who encourage and support her and enjoys learning new skills to help enhance her skills within her roll. Karen enjoys face to face and telephone contact with clients and has gained professional relationships with many of our patients. Karen enjoys socialising with her family, has a keen interest in travel and in her past time enjoyed dancing and swimming.

Kerry started working at College Street in the autumn of 2021. Kerry has joined us as part of our reception team and you will find Kerry in practice on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Kerry has a wealth of knowledge in customer facing roles and says that she is enjoying working in the practice and meeting new people. In her spare time, Kerry spends time with her two small children and enjoys day trips and visiting new places.

Joanne joined College Street Dental Surgery in November 2021 as one of our newest receptionist’s.

Joanne moved to Burnham-on-Sea in 2015 and is enjoying life in the seaside resort.

She has one granddaughter who she loves spending time with and has the tiniest of dog of called Roxie, a cross between a shih tzu and miniature poodle who she adores spending time with and taking for walks.

Lynne

Lynne Foster

Receptionist

Lynne & her husband moved from Birmingham to Burnham on Sea in June 2020 when her husband retired and they are both enjoying life by the seaside.

Lynne enjoys crocheting, cross stitch and socialising. She has five grandchildren, three boys and two girls and they all live in the West Midlands. Lynne has a small dog who is four years old and her name is Nuna. She is a Shihpoo cross between Shih Tzu and Toy Poodle and she is adorable. Lynne loves spending time with her taking her for walks. Lynne works on Saturdays with our hygienist, Becky, but sometimes is kind enough to cover mid-week too.
