George Slabbert qualified at the University of Witwatersrand in 1984. Following qualification and has worked in general practice until he joined College Street Dental in 1988 as a partner. He completed his postgraduate DPDs at Bristol University in 1997. While he was South West coordinator for the Anaphylaxis Campaign, with his interest in allergies, he obtained his Part 1 in the Mechanisms and Management of Allergic Disease at Southampton University in 2001.
Outside interests are long distance road cycling, dinghy sailing and trying to complete walking the South West coastal path. He is also involved with helping his wife look after a number of pet sheep and lambs. George has an interest in all aspects of general dentistry with emphasis on crown and bridgework. Also interested in providing quality dentures. He attends numerous postgraduate courses to keep up to date with the latest techniques in dentistry.

Tinashe graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2013 and is dedicated to providing high quality general dental care. After spending some time working in Sheffield and Newcastle he later moved to Australia to undertake work as a Private dentist in 2015.
Tinashe has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, including facial aesthetics. He is committed to furthering his knowledge and is currently undertaking postgraduate Restorative and short-term Orthodontics training. Outside of work Tinashe is an avid writer of children’s books and enjoys keeping fit

College Street Dental & Implant Clinic are very pleased to welcome Dominic Sinson to our experienced team. Dominic qualified with honours from Cardiff University in 2010 and has spent the last eight years gaining experience and an excellent reputation.
Dominic has a keen interest in Periodontics and in 2014 he began training as a specialist in Periodontics. Dominic is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for Periodontics and is also a member of the British Society of Periodontology.
Dominic also has an interest in Dental Implants and Oral Surgery.

Carla is new to the team and has a wealth of experience in carrying out oral surgery for a range of patients. Carla currently teaches at Bristol Dental School and has been training in the specialty of Oral Surgery for the last 7 years. Carla has a calm and gentle approach and can offer treatment under local anaesthetic as well as sedation. She looks forward to offering her services to patients.

André Philip Pettemerides (Philip) graduated from The University of Sheffield in 1976. He has since gained enormous experience in the fields of restorative, aesthetic and implant dentistry. In particular he is recognised for his work on immediate loading of implants, aesthetic cases, the use of computer guided placement, Nobel Guide and the All on 4 Concept.
He has achieved the Certificate, the Advanced Certificate and the Diploma in Implant dentistry with distinction from The Eastman Dental Institute at the University of London. He has continued his postgraduate education in France, Malta, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland and the USA.
Philip is an Executive Committee member of The British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, an affiliate member of The European Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, a member of the Association of Dental Implantologists and in addition to his clinical work Philip has taken a keen academic interest and has had several articles published in scientific journals including the British and European Journals of Orthodontics.
Philip currently runs implant courses at Edgar Buildings Dental Care and is a senior lecturer at the Portman Academy. He has lectured on dental implants at home and in Sweden and has lectured for Nobel Biocare including the World Conference 2007 in Las Vegas and as the lead presenter for The Nobel Biocare Procera Roadshow.
Philip has an holistic approach to dentistry, always with the patient's best interest at heart. He attends regular postgraduate conferences to keep abreast of the latest innovations in all aspects of dentistry and when possible to introduce them to Edgar Buildings Dental Care.
Philip has also taken on an additional new role as Regional Lead Clinician for Portman Dental Care in Wales and the South West of England.

Originally from Bournemouth, Annie moved to the area to study Dentistry at the University of Bristol, and has lived and worked in Somerset since graduating in 2006. She joined College Street Dental in June 2020. Annie has a wealth of experience as a general dental practitioner, and a passion for providing the highest quality care. She enjoys treating patients of every age and need, and she is particularly skilled at looking after very anxious patients. Beyond general dentistry, Annie has a strong interest in aesthetic dentistry, but with a minimally destructive approach. As an extension of this interest she trained to become an Invisalign provider in 2018, so that she could provide virtually invisible short-term orthodontic treatment that is minimally intrusive for her patients. She is dedicated to her ongoing personal training and development in this field.
Annie lives on the Mendip Hills with her Husband and young daughters. She has lots of creative interests, from cooking and baking, to sewing, knitting and interior design, although much of her time is taken up with entertaining her daughters these days. Outside of the home, when she can find the time, Annie loves to swim, and to hop on her kayak with her husband and get out for a paddle on the coast.

We are delighted to introduce you to Dr Fred Ferreira LMD LFHom(Dent) PgCert Hyp(Clin Hyp), who will be joining our practice as a direct replacement for your previous dentist James Hallows.
Frederico comes from northern Portugal and graduated from a Porto University in 2005. Before moving to the UK, Fred held a clinical assistant post at the University’s Paediatric Department, as well as being a General Dental Practioner in a private hospital.
For the past 8 years Fred held, mainly in Bristol area, associate posts at mixed NHS/Private practices, inclusive becoming Clinical Support Manager mentoring other colleagues for a national corporate.
Frederico enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and regularly attends postgraduate courses. Fred has developed a special interest in microscope assisted dentistry (he is a member of British Academy of Microscope Dentistry) and a wide range of advanced cosmetic dentistry techniques including tooth whitening treatment. Fred is a certified provider of 6 Months Smiles, Inman Aligner and Clear Smile Aligner. He enjoys providing effective and comfortable Root Canal Therapy and bespoke denture solutions.
His passion for holistic care and looking ‘beyond the teeth’ has led him to further studies in acupuncture applied to dentistry, clinical hypnosis and homeopathy. Frederico loves caring for patients and their families, making anxious patients feel listened to and in good hands.
On his free time, Frederico enjoys reading, cinema and most of all, spending time with his wife and two children.

During Suzy’s training, she was praised on her communication skills and treatment of anxious and phobic patients, she was presented with the British Society of Dental Hygiene & Therapy Student award. She has continued with her commitment to helping anxious patients and greatly enjoys this aspect of her work. To ensure excellent oral health Suzy works with all her patients to help provide comfortable treatment and appropriate education.
Outside of Suzy’s clinical role she has a teaching role, she goes into care home for the elderly and vulnerable adults, helping to educate caregivers in the importance of oral health maintenance of their clients.
Prior to becoming a Dental Hygienist Suzy worked at the Bristol Dental Hospital preforming cancer research of the head & neck, she obtained a MSc during this period.
Outside of work Suzy is the membership sectary of the British Llama Society and owns 6 llamas herself. If it isn’t llama power then she can be found with horse power – following different motorsports from MotoGP to Le Mans 24 hour and the Bathurst 12-hour race.

Laura studied at Portsmouth University and graduated as a Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist in 2019, having worked as a Dental Nurse for many years previous.
Laura is passionate about ‘‘preventative dentistry’’, educating her patients in all aspects of their oral health to prevent gum disease, and is dedicated to explaining the aetiology of gum disease whilst tailoring treatment to the individual.
Laura has many years of experience working with a variety of patients within both Private and Community Dental settings. From new patients, dental phobics, children, and the elderly. Laura prides herself in ensuring a good rapport is built with every patient and that they are treated with empathy and professionalism at every visit.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys long walks with her Black Labrador George, pilates, cooking and baking, reading, travelling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Zoe has worked as Practice Manager at College Street since 2018, but has worked for the group since 2013, managing two other sites in Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Zoe has a wealth of experience in dentistry, having worked in the industry for over 20 years.
Zoe was named Portman Practice Manager of the year in 2019 and was also a finalist at the national Dentistry Awards 2019. Zoe is passionate about delivering excellent patient care and particularly enjoys mentoring and developing her team in order to enhance the patient journey.
Zoe has a young family and spends the majority of her spare time caring for them, alongside her black lab puppy.

Jo has been nursing since the age of 18, getting into dental nursing through her sister, who is also a dental nurse. Jo worked in Weston for six years before moving to College Street Dental & Implant Clinic, and has been here since December 2015. Jo has completed further courses as a dental nurse, including the ability to take impressions on patients, apply fluoride and to complete plaque scoring. Jo has also recently completed the Oral Health Education course. In her own time Jo enjoys spending time with her family & young baby boy.

Janet has been nursing at College Street for over 22 years and is now seeing the third generation of some families. She said she likes interacting with the patients, working with such a great team and that she has made some great friendships over time with work colleagues.
Janet has two grown up daughters, and two grandchildren who she loves spending her spare time with as well as attending the theatre and walking her two dogs.

Carol started working as a Dental Nurse when she was 16 and joined the team at College Street in 1992. Carol works part time but provides cover to the nursing team as well as assisting with implants which she really enjoys.
Carol says she loves working at College Street and hopes to continue to do so for many years to come. In her spare time she enjoys cryptic crosswords and painting, as well travels with her husband on his motorbike around Europe.
Trainee Dental Nurse
Lucy joined our practice in March of this year and is currently training as a Dental Nurse working alongside Dr Slabbert, who she has seen as his patient for 25 years. Before joining our team Lucy worked as a Teaching Assistant in a behavioural school in North Petherton, where she supported young boys with Autism and behavioural problems. She found a passion to work with children after returning home from America, working in a rustic summer camp in Maryland, called Echo Hill. Lucy worked at the camp for 12 weeks as a camp counsellor and was lucky enough to experience many new things such as sailing, archery, water skiing and much more.
Trainee Dental Nurse
I have worked as a trainee dental nurse for two years, due in my time I have got two work at two dental practices, I have learnt how to interact with people on a professional level and now I able to confident in my customer service facing part of my role.
In my spare time I like to travel with my favourite place being America, I am looking forward to many more years of exploring, I also like retail therapy where I get to see friends and family to do this.
I am looking forward to my role within portman as a dental nurse.
Jeanette has been a receptionist at College Street Dental since June 2007, before that I spent 25 years working as a customer service adviser.
I am married with two grown up children and one dog. My hobbies include reading, walking the dog and spending time with family and friends.

Charlotte joined Portman in February 2018 as a dental nurse/receptionist. She has been working as a dental nurse for 7 years, previously working at the Dental Access Centre dealing with phobic patients. She has previous experience of assisting with Relative Analgesia (RA) sedation and general anaesthetic. In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys spending time with her young family and is currently studying with a view of progressing into management.
Emma joined our practice as a receptionist in late November 2019. Emma has been in administrational roles since leaving college and has always enjoyed her positions. Emma has always worked with in the health sector from a Medical Practice to a Care company and she is now enjoying her role within Portman at College Street Dental & Implant Clinic.
Emma in her spare time enjoys spending time with her close friends and family, and she also enjoys exploring the world and spending lots of time in the gym and also some retail therapy.
Karen has been a member of the team for 10 years and is a familiar face on reception. She has worked in the care profession for many years, both as a provider of direct care and within the administrative side. Karen enjoys working within a team of professionals who encourage and support her and enjoys learning new skills to help enhance her skills within her roll. Karen enjoys face to face and telephone contact with clients and has gained professional relationships with many of our patients. Karen enjoys socialising with her family, has a keen interest in travel and in her past time enjoyed dancing and swimming.
Nicky has been a receptionist at College Street Dental & Implant Clinic since September 2019, this was after leaving a 20 year career as a general nurse. Nicky continues to also work as therapist specialising to stress management, relating for women.
Nicky has a three year old daughter whom she loves spending time with, as well as also seeing friends and also being very active. She also loves spending time with her Pony.
